What does osteopathy treat?

Osteopaths treat more than you think. Many patients suffer from joint pains with their back, hip, neck, knee or from a condition termed as sciatica.Some receive treatment for headaches and/or migraine prevention - shoulder (frozen shoulder) ; elbow pain tennis elbow which are also common place in clinic; in addition to a wide range of sporting injuries e.g. shin splints

Other patients suffer from digestive/circulatory problems; arthritic and rheumatic pain; muscle spasms; nerve pain (neuralgia) and fibromyalgia.

Osteopaths deal regularly with a broad spectrum of patients encompassing : those who have been injured in the workplace, at home or while playing sport, expectant mothers, children and babies.
This is the name given to any sort of pain that is caused by irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve.
The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in your body. It runs from the back of your pelvis, through your buttocks, and all the way down both legs, ending at your feet.
Tennis Elbow:
This is a common condition that effects the outsdie of your elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis).
It results from inflammation and micro tearing of the fibres in the tendons that extend your forearm.
You don't have to be a sportsperson to incur this condition, it can arise from repetitive forceful turning (supination/pronation) of the forearm extensor muscles.
Shin Splints:
This is a general term used to describe exercise-induced pain in the front of the lower legs, or shins.
The shin pain can be felt during or after strenuous activity, particularly running, or sports with sudden stops and starts, such as basketball and tennis.

Your visit / what to expect

Osteopathy is a patient-centred system of healthcare. Your first appointment will last approximately 60 minutes with any subsequent appointments being around 30 minutes. This allows adequate time for your osteopath to Diagnosis and Treatment

Osteopathy specialises in the diagnosis, management, treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal and other related disorders.
We are recognised by most Health Insurance companies please contact your provider to ascertain whether your policy will reimburse your fees prior to booking your appointment.
